$43,000.00 Raised for Burn Care
The Nova Scotia Firefighters Burn Treatment Society held its
16th Annual Bowl-a-thon for Burn Care on April 25, 1998 at
South Centre Bowlarama in Spryfield.
Sixty departments from across mainland Nova Scotia entered
teams for a total of over 300 bowlers. Once again this year
the Bowl-a-thon was sponsored in part by the South Centre
Bowlarama and Moosehead Breweries.
This event is seen by many firefighters as a major social
event of the year, giving them a chance to see old friends
from across the province, as well as make new ones.
While everyone came to have a good time, they also put their
hearts into the cause, raising a total of $43,000.00 for Burn
Care and Education. The honours of high pledges this year go
to Enfield Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary, $9,087.50,
Maitland Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary, $7,400.00,
Amherst Fire Department, $6,000.00. The honours for high team
scores goes to Amherst Fire Department with a total pin fall
of 1502, and the Halifax Fire Department Ladies team with a
total of 1500.
The money raised this year will goto support the many programs
that the Nova Scotia Firefighters Burn Treatment Society is
involved with, as well as our newest project, a weekend
retreat for Burn Survivors to be held this summer at
Sherbrooke Village August 14,15, and 16.
Once Again the firefighters of Nova Scotia have proven that
they stand behind our motto;
"Taking Pride In Helping Others"
